![]() Hello.first please do one more malware check. Wondering if there's something still on the computer that is Mcafee specific? How could I find it? Any help is very much appreciated. I ran Trend Micro's "Rootkit Buster," but it found nothing. I can download it, but it won't install on the machine. However, Mcafee Site Advisor is a neat tool I use on Firefox, and wanted my nephew to have access to this tool as well - especially in light of all the malware problems we had to deal with. ![]() ![]() Ran Avast Home on Boot up and it found nothing additional. By then, I was running Avast Home Edition in combination with Zone Alarm Free. I had to download a special tool from McAfee to delete the software. The "Security Center" logo would come up, but then a mostly blank screen followed with no choices or information. However, Mcafee, which had been installed originally on the machine, would not run. Then, ran CC Cleaner and Glary Utilities to recover over 4 GB of space taken up by temp and junk files. ![]() Then, I was able to run a scan with Antimalware bytes and found 43 other problems to be removed. As part of an extensive effort (on my part, at least!) to get my nephew's Acer Laptop running correctly again, I used the Microsoft Removal Tool (loaded onto flash drive) and was able to pull out one trojan.
